This summer, Yanagawa will be filled with “envious nights.”
We will be holding “Yanagawa Yokai Night,” an event to enjoy the town at night in the Yanagawa/Okinahata area .
There are exhibits that utilize historical lanterns and local culture, as well as yokai makeup and a Donko Boat bar.
There will be a variety of events that will allow you to experience a different side of Yanagawa than you would see during the day.
You can enjoy the calm atmosphere that can only be experienced at night.

Venue : Around Okinohata (Yanagawa feudal lord Tachibana family gardens, Ohana to Sagemon Park)

Main Programs
1. Ohana Kikai Yako (18:00-21:00/Paid *Last entry 20:30)
The “Yokai Lantern” is produced by “Ito Gonjiro Shoten”, a company that continues to make lanterns in Yame City.
Boasting a history of approximately 300 years, it is still protected by the descendants of the lord of Yanagawa.
The space of the “Yanagawa Domain Lord Tachibana Residence, Ohana.” Yokai lanterns that Ito has created so far.
It was created specifically for this exhibition, inspired by a picture scroll of a monster handed down in the Tachibana family.
This is an art event that will feature special exhibits of lanterns and unpublished works.
Venue: Yanagawa feudal lord Tachibana residence, Onohana
Admission fees: Adults 1,700 yen / High school students 1,000 yen / Elementary and junior high school students 500 yen
2. Sagemon Park Bonfire Night Theater (18:00-21:00 / Free)
Sagemon Park is lined with heavy fire pits forged by the local Noritomi Ironworks.
The town is lit up at night. On a screen set up against a backdrop of flames, the Yanagawa clan
The picture scroll of the yokai (supernatural creatures) handed down through the Tachibana family, “The Tale of Taketafu of Geishu (Hetchara Heitaro)”
The orange flickering from the bonfire and the water surface
The moonlight reflected on the screen overlaps with the image on the screen, creating a calming atmosphere where the image on the screen blends naturally with the night view.
It will be a cinematic space.
3. Yokai Makeup & Town Walk (17:00-21:00 / Free)
At the special booths of “Yanagawa City Tourist Information Center” and “Kiyoshi Shokudo”, Hollywood World Beauty Specialty
A student makeup team from the school will be on-site. They will transform you into a ghost with their makeup and wig painting.
We will dress you up as a “resident of the night.” A yokai staff member may appear out of nowhere and call out to you!
If you whisper the password, you will receive a limited edition sticker.
In addition, Sagemon Park will also have a wig painting booth where you can try it yourself.
This is an experiential walking tour of the town where the more you walk, the more the “yokai picture scroll” unfolds before your eyes.
4. Dining on a Boat – Donko Boat Bar (17:00-21:00 / Fee applies *Last admission 20:00)
The donko boats that are usually used for river boating are transformed into a “water terrace” for one night only.
Board a boat moored in the canal and toast under the flickering lanterns, the light reflected in the ripples
Purchase a boat ticket at the tourist association and board the boat with your lantern.
In the surrounding area, various shops are open for special nighttime hours, offering takeout coffee, craft beer, etc.
