This is the autumn festival of Mihashira Shrine, which enshrines three deities: Tachibana Muneshige, the first lord of the Yanagawa Domain; his wife, Ginchiyohime; and his father-in-law, Totsugi Dōsetsu.This festival, which began in the Edo period as a way to give thanks for a bountiful harvest and to please the gods with lively celebrations, is called Onigie and continues to be passed down to this day.

On the evening of the second day, Sunday the 11th, the “Grand Competition” will be held. Many spectators will gather, and it will be a spectacular event where floats and dances come together, making it a major highlight of the festival.
